Saudi Girls’ Math Team Wins Four International Awards at the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) 2025

The Saudi National Girls' Math Team proudly secured four international awards at the 14th edition of the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO), held in Pristina, Kosovo, from April 11th to 17th, 2025. The event brought together 217 students from 56 countries.

From Al-Ahsa Education Department, Fatimah Hasan Bu Ali won a silver medal, while her teammate Sarah Hisham Al-Jughaiman earned a bronze. In addition, Ritaj Shukri Saleh from the Eastern Province Education Department and Al-Batool Osama Al-Eidros from Yanbu Education Department were each awarded Certificates of Merit.

With these new accolades, the Kingdom — represented by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) — has now amassed 36 international awards at EGMO: including 2 gold, 7 silver, and 15 bronze medals, in addition to 12 certificates of merit.

This remarkable achievement is the result of Mawhiba’s ongoing efforts to prepare and mentor talented students, in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education, through specialized programs designed to equip gifted youth for elite international competitions and scientific Olympiads.

The EGMO is an annual international competition for high school girls with exceptional mathematical abilities. Participants are selected based on their training performance and readiness for global contests.
Launched in 2012 as a UK initiative, the first edition of the Olympiad aims to expand young women’s participation in this vital field, growing rapidly to become one of the world’s most prominent science competitions.
